| The Ombak Putih is a mix of traditional
and modern design. Her hull and rigging are traditional, while
the deck house and interior are custom designed to fit our needs
for a spacious, open and comfortable vessel.
There are a few important design principles that where taken
into account. First, traditional measures decided the dimensions
of the ship. The Buginese are known for their skills
in shipbuilding but it's still amazing that this huge
structure (36m length, a beam of 10m and a draft of 4,5M)
was made without any drawing, fully relying on the craftsmanship
of its builders. A Dutch naval architect was hired to design
the interior and deck house and to recalculate all dimensions.
