Foreigners are still a curiosity in the eastern part
of Lombok. This once remote part of the island is now becoming
more accessible.
East Lombok is lush and is far less developed than
the western part of the island, allowing you to peek into
a rural part of Indonesia.
East Lombok is inhabited by the indigenous Sasak
people, who keep their culture very much alive. We visit
a traditional basket weaving workshop, and wander through
authentic local villages where good quality pottery is offered
at bargain prices. In traditional dances you will see influences
from Bali.
